Who: No one
What: Conversation with her best friend in NY
Where: Her hotel room his apt via web cam
When: Few days after the Christmas party

"Cheers!" They say together as they hold up their glasses towards the web cam.

"So..." she begins, making herself comfortable against the pillows propped up behind her. "How'd it go?" Her mother hen routine, but he's used to it by now.

"What?" he wasn't thinking about that his mind a million miles away. "Oh fine." he watches her sigh. He wishes he could be there now.

"Alright. I give." Aiden grumbles. "What's wrong? Sam finally go back with the boss?"

"No." he says flatly. It's the tone of his voice, the flash of his throat as he breathes. She knows something is very wrong now. She puts down her cereal bowl and leans forward to sit up.

"Martin." she adjusts the web cam. "What's wrong." she watches him sigh.

"He's out."

"What?" her face contorts in disbelief.

"Brendon Garrison's out."

"I knew who you meant." she shakes her head.

"But I thought...I mean what about another hearing?"

"His lawyer got it tossed out. The states attorney says he did his time and should be released. And since he was a juvenile offender..."

"His record is sealed and he's let back on the streets like nothing ever happened."

"Angel..." he tries to soothe.

"He'll do it again!"

"And we'll get him again." he sighs, he's frightened, not for her but because of her. He's afraid of what she'll do.

"Where is he." her voice is demanding, her eyes cold, enough to shake even the hardiest of individuals but Martin doesn't flinch until she repeats it in a yell.

"I'm working on it."

"You're working on it?" She says, obviously angry.

"I didn't find out about his release until after the fact. As soon as I know you'll know."

"Your damn right I'll know cause I'm going to be on the next flight out." she slams her cereal down down on the nightstand causing milk to splash over the side.

"No." He doesn't have to yell it. He knows she'll listen. She won't listen to many but she'll listen to him. "I want you to stay in Miami until I find out where he is."

"The hell I will."

"Aiden it's safer for you to be in a separate city until I figure something out."

"We don't have time to figure something out! Martin if he...."

"Then it will be his fault and not yours."

"But...Christmas?" she pleads. She knows he's right, and in truth she's not looking forward to facing her demons. But on the other hand she can't simply cower, not without at least trying to offer her help.

"Stay. In. Miami." He watches her sigh and he knows he's won. For now anyways. Aiden pouts, look like she'll be spending Christmas in Miami.
